Adobe

Adobe (full title Adobe Systems Incorporated) is one of the most well-known software development companies that’s sphere of interest covers creativity and multimedia software development and rich Internet applications. The company was founded in 1982 in the United States. Adobe headquarters are located in San Jose (CA, USA). The company’s shares are traded on NASDAQ.


Adobe has almost 8,000 employees (2009). Approximately 40% of them work in San Jose, while the others operate in other offices of the company situated in other states (FL, CA, UT, WA, MN, MA) and other countries (Germany, India, Romania and China).


Initially Adobe was working over PostScript page development language that later made so called desktop publishing revolution possible. One of the most important moments in the history of the program was the acquiring of Macromedia company, after which Adobe gained access to such platforms as Dreamweaver, Coldfuion, Flex and Flash. 

The company’s most famous products include Photoshop (the first version of which appeared in 1989), QuarkXPress, Illustrator, Premier Pro, After Effects and other programs present in Creative Suite.
